Al Ahly legend Emad Metap has heaped praise on Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau for his recent sterling performances for the club.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns star has been one of the top performers for the Egyptian giants.
The breathtaking performances this season by Tau have silenced some of his doubters.
Tau, who struggled for fitness and game-time after the departure of former coach Pitso Mosimane, has since turned a corner at the club.
PERCY TAU HITS TOP FORM
Tau has become one of the key players for Swiss coach Marcel Koller this season. He has made 25 appearances in all competitions so far.
The 29-year-old has repaid the faith shown in him by his coach, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in all competitions this season.
Moreover, the SA playmaker was on fire in his side’s 3-0 win against Esperance in the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg clash.
Tau bagged a brace in that game. In addition, he has now been directly involved in eight goals in nine Champions League matches for the team of the century so far this season.
Metap has been highly impressed by the former Brighton and Hove Albion forward, commending Koller for his management of Tau.
“Continuity of Percy Tau playing and maintaining his physical fitness and avoiding injuries made him perform at this level,” Metap said, as quoted by KingFut.
AL AHLY LEGEND PRAISES PERCY TAU
“Tau is currently in full fitness and full artistic performance. He scored two goals [against Esperance] and played an important role on the field.
“These are advantages that should be credited to the coach who dealt with him well and with all the players.”
Tau’s Ahly now have one foot in the final of the continental club competition. They will be out to finish the job in the second leg.
Tau is looking to win his second Champions League title. The attacker won it before with Sundowns in 2016, a campaign in which he played a key role.
“The current generation has the ability to achieve what happened in 2005 and 2006, 2007 and 2008. Four consecutive finals Al Ahly won three of them, and I hope that the team wins this year,” added Metap.
