How Arthur Zwane plans to soldier on without Keagan Dolly

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has explained how he plans to soldier on without the services of winger Keagan Dolly.

Last week, Amakhosi coach Arthur Zwane confirmed that Dolly had been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns player, in tears, limped off during Chiefs’ 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United in a DStv Premiership clash on Sunday, 23 April 2023.

Dolly has been one of Zwane’s trusted soldiers in the team this season. The attacker has featured in 31 matches across all competitions this campaign with six goals and five assists to his name.

In addition, Zwane will miss Dolly’s creativity, leadership and and ability to performance in big games.

Zwane’s side has encountered a lot of injuries to key players, suspensions, and unforeseen circumstances this campaign. This has affected Amakhosi’s progress.

But the Chiefs mentor is ready to soldier on despite the challenges and hoping to end the Glamour Boys’ trophy drought.

Zwane was speaking ahead of the Nedbank Cup Soweto derby clash on Saturday, 6 May 2023.

“We miss all the players that have been out, not only Keagan, more especially when we are looking for chemistry,” said Zwane.

“But we can’t dwell on that, though. We have to try to come up with a solution, a new plan to make sure we accommodate everyone because we also have other players who haven’t been playing regularly.

“So, you have seen we have given the opportunity to Happy Mashiane to play; and KG [Kgaogelo Sekgota]as well, to bring back their confidence.”

‘10111’, as he is popularly known within the football circles continued: “Though we lost to Swallows, the guys applied themselves well. In the game before, I think we showed a lot of character against Chippa.

“I just hope the guys will show the same character, discipline, and tactical endurance against Orlando Pirates.

“Unfortunately, we had a lot of injuries to key players, as well as suspensions and unforeseen circumstances beyond our control and we had to chop and change the team.

“It has been the most difficult season I’ve had since I have been here because of all that,” he added.
