Brazilian midfielder Lucas Ribeiro has penned an emotional farewell to Mamelodi Sundowns after confirming his departure from the club. In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, the player expressed gratitude for his time at the club, but admitted he wished he could have said goodbye in a “better way.”

Ribeiro, who joined the Brazilians two years ago, reflected on his tenure, stating he gave his “all, on and off the field.” He described his time at the club as “incredible, full of emotions,” and credited the experience with helping him become a “better player” and a “better human being.”

The number 10 paid tribute to the Sundowns supporters, thanking them for their “support and love,” which he said “meant so much.”

He promised to carry the memories of his time at the club with him, including the goals, assists, trophies, and “magical nights.” He closed his message to the fans by saying his “love for you is endless.”

Ribeiro also extended his thanks to the coaches and his teammates, calling them his “second family.”

He praised them for “every battle, every title won, every smile, and every moment we shared together.”

He ended the post by expressing his honour at having played for the club and living in the culture, concluding with a simple

“Thank you, South Africa.”

Ribeiro’s statement confirms his exit from the club, with his next move yet to be officially announced. The player’s social media post was signed off with “With much love Ribeiro #10.”
