Elon Musk became the first individual in modern history to a generate a personal fortune exceeding a trillion dollars. This was the result of a major surge in the value of his company SpaceX. The milestone was reached after the company made a highly anticipated debut on the Nasdaq stock exchange, attracting intense investor interest and pushing its valuation to more than $2 trillion, which equates to over R32 trillion.
SpaceX’s initial public offering (IPO) was one of the largest ever recorded. This raised tens of billions of dollars before trading even began.
