Ahly Eliminate Raja To Advance To CAFCL Last-Four

Al Ahly advanced to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League with a 2-0 aggregate win over Raja Athletic Club.

The Red Devils 2-0 win in Cairo last week proved decisive as they managed to stem the tie and the hostile Rajawi in Casablanca at the iconic Stade Mohamed V.

After a scrappy opening half, in which neither side deserved to be leading going into the break, Raja were awarded a penalty through VAR, as Aliou Dieng was adjudged to have fouled a player just inside the area.

Yousri Bouzok smashed the crossbar which left the home support in dismay and clearly knocked the momentum of the Green Eagles going into the second half.

Champions League top scorer Hamza Khabba came closest to breaking the deadline with ten minutes to go but he slid his effort wide of the post when it looked easier to score.

Raja pushed in the final moments but Marcel Koller’s side once again showed their pedigree in the competition to comfortably see out the game and book a place in the last four where they set to face Esperance de Tunis.

Ahly are now on course for a sixth final in seven seasons in Africa’s elite club competition.
