Chippa Mpengesi reappoint former coach to fight relegation

Chippa United chairman Siviwe Mpengesi has pulled the trigger again, making another change to the club’s coaching department.

The trigger-happy Mpengesi decided to make the coaching changes after Chippa United got knocked out of the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon by Sekhukhune United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

In the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign, Mpengesi has made five impulsive coaching decisions.

Daine Klate started the season with Chippa, and he was replaced by Morgan Mammila, who was later also shown the exit door after a series of poor results.

The Gqeberha-based outfit demoted Kurt Lentjies to the club’s DStv Diski Challenge side barely two month at the helm.

Siyabulela Gwambi was appointed as the interim coach for the reminder of the season.

However, indications are that Mpengesi has re-called a former coach as fears of relegation creep in.

CHIPPA MPENGESI RECALLS LEHLOHONOLO SEEMA

This publication has it on good authority that Chippa have reappointed Lehlohonolo Seema to take over the coaching reigns.

Seema was announced as the head coach of Peace Makers FC in the ABC Motsepe League four weeks ago.

The former Golden Arrows mentor has now confirmed he rejoined Chippa United.

“It’s true; I’m returning to Chippa United to help the team fight relegation; it’s a big task,” Seema told FARPost.

FEAR OF RELEGATION AT CHIPPA UNITED

Chippa is languishing in 15th position on the log with 26 points and two points above 16th-placed Maritzburg United.

The Chilli Boys have won only six games, drawn six and lost in 12 outings after 26 games played.

Chippa have to overcome Kaizer Chiefs, Richards Bay, TS Galaxy and Golden Arrows in their remaining four games in the league.

Seema’s first task at Chippa will be against Chiefs on the 27th of April at Nelson Mandela Bay.
