Dondol Stars and Orlando Pirates have announced their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s Nedbank Cup quarter-final at New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The first famous fight took place in Efes Damim and it was between David and Goliath. This afternoon we will witness what might be the repeat of that fight when Dondol Stars face the Buccaneers for a place in the quarter-finals.
The Gauteng ABC Motsepe League table toppers have been giant killers in the tournament as they already eliminated 2017 Nedbank Cup winners SuperSport United and 2010 finalists AmaZulu.
Stars have created a name for themselves by following in the footsteps of Baroka, Maluti FET College, AmaTuks and TS Galaxy, who’ve all written the headlines in the cup of dreams.
Pirates experienced a shock elimination 10 years ago, when they got knocked out by third division side Maluti FET College, and Jose Riveiro will want to avoid that to happen this time.
The Sea Robbers aim to complete a double this season in terms of winning trophies as they’ve already pocketed MTN8. They enter this game on a run of 10 wins in their last 12 games in all competitions.
Here is how they line up:
Dondol Stars XI: Gumede, Mabu, Nomala, Sambo, Baloyi, Monama, Mnyembane, Mabena, Seema, Skhosana, Makungo
Subs: Danquarh, Fox, Ralebakeng, Sepato, Banyane, Phatlane, Nemaxwi, Nameka
