Ian McIntosh’s inspiring journey from Zimbabwe to a Springbok legend with a highly decorated career. The legendary rugby coach Ian Mclntosh died on 5 April 2023, and the rugby family is mourning.

Ian McIntosh established himself as one of the finest and most respected Springbok coaches ever thanks to his unique skills. He was a committed man whose success was never a coincidence but a result of hard work and pure talent. During his peak days, Ian had the best in-game management in the country.

Indeed, many never knew that Ian McIntosh was Zimbabwean, and he only came to South Africa when he was already an adult. Before he passed away, Ian Mclntosh spoke at large of his journey from Zimbabwe to a Springbok legend.

IAN MCLNTOSH’S INSPIRING JOURNEY FROM ZIMBABWE TO A SPRINGBOK LEGEND

Mclntosh was born in Zimbabwe in the Matabeleland province in the areas around Bulawayo. There, that’s where Ina started his career in Rugby though he never played for his country.

Fortunately, Mclntosh later joined Ray Williams as an assistant coach in the Welsh Rugby Union. After his massive development under Ray Williams, Ian joined the Zimbabwe national Rugby Union team, popularly known as the Sables.

After his wonderful stay with the Sables, McIntosh left Zimbabwe for South Africa, where his best years made him a Springbok legend. In an interview with Front Row Rugby, Mclntosh spoke at large of his career, and there is a lot many fans did not know.
