Veteran striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has left AmaZulu with immediate effect, iDiski Times has learnt.

Majoro was already facing a bleak future with Usuthu after president Sandile Zungu told this publication that he will leave the club at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract.

He, along with Keagan Buchanan and Ramahlwe Mphahlele, was informed by the club management that they will not be retained at the end of the season.

However, according to various sources, Majoro is no longer at the club, agreeing to an early release before his contract expires at the end of June.

“Majoro is gone,” said one source.

Another source stated: “Are you aware that Majoro is no longer?”

The 36-year-old lost his place in the side after the arrival of Junior Dion from Marumo Gallants in the January transfer window.

Even before that, his place was peripheral this term as ex-coach Brandon Truter and current Romain Folz preferred Bongi Ntuli, Gabadinho Mhango and Chidi Kwem up top, assisted by Dumisani Zuma.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker leaves the club having featured in 15 matches in all competitions, scoring one goal in the process.

He was the key player when Usuthu finished second under Benni McCarthy in the 2020/21 season, the club’s highest finish in the PSL era, scoring nine goals in all competitions.

Majoro rejoined Usuthu ahead of the 2019/20 season after leaving Bidvest Wits, and departed the club having scored 14 goals in 88 appearances in four seasons.

The former Cape Town City forward started his professional career at the club in 2010/11 season where he was signed by coach Manqoba Mngqithi, and was an instant success, scoring 14 league goals in 27 matches.

That prompted Chiefs to come knocking for his signature at the end of that season.
