Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has confirmed that SuperSport United have signed a “future star” from his academy, while Amakhosi assessed another on trial recently.

The played-turned-pundit is not just analysing the biggest DStv Premiership games, but he is also building a football club in his hometown, Daveyton.

The club is called Fak’ iMali Uzobona FC, while he’s also founded the Junior Khanye Academy, which is sponsored by World Sports Betting.

And the academy is making good strides in Gauteng, with SuperSport United recently signing attacking midfielder Thobela ‘Mshishi’ Siyabonga Malomane for their U19 team.

“He’s a future star, very talented. People must look out for him,” Khanye told iDiski Times.

“Imagine he is 14 years and playing for our U19. Then SuperSport, he’s 14 years, turning 15 [but] SuperSport signed him for their U17.

“They’re saying, it has never happened. They’ve got an U15 side, but he jumped that.

“He’s playing attacking midfield. Very young, talented [and] skilful.”

But Malomane is not the only player from Khanye’s academy, who has been spotted, with another recently being invited to trials by Chiefs’ U19 coach David Mathebula, while two more will go on trial with Sekhukhune’s DStv Diski Challenge team after being scouted by Thabo Senong.

“Yeah, things are going well,” he added.

“One of our players was training with Chiefs last week for two days. David Mathebula assessed him for two days. The other two are soon going to Sekhukhune’s DDC team.

“Thabo Senong saw them when we played a friendly, they’ll go next week. A centre-back and a left midfielder, very talented.

“The academy is doing well. Everybody is watching, Thabo Senong… all the coaches, they are very excited.

“We recently beat Farouk Khan [Stars of Africa] 6-1 and we drew with Sekhukhune’s DDC team 1-1. We beat SuperSport U19 2-1. These boys are playing well – we played Pirates 3-3, it’s not easy.”
