Agent Sizwe Ntshangase, who was the representative of the late Siphamandla Mtolo, and Richards Bay will have showdown talks with the PSL about the insurance settlement for the player.
Mtolo’s football career was cut short after he collapsed on the pitch last Tuesday when the training was about to be over.
The club medical staff tried to resuscitate him for 30 minutes and when they rushed him to the hospital, he had already passed away
Players, technical staff and management are still in shock at having experienced such a painful situation to lose their captain right in front of their own eyes, as he was a key factor in last season’s promotion triumph.
Mtolo was laid to rest at Shakaskraal in the Northern part of KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday, when chairman Sifiso Biyela announced his No. 4 will be retired.
Because this was an untimely passing and not that he retired, Mtolo’s family and the club are now working on documents that will be submitted to the league to claim the insurance, Biyela stated at the funeral service before he was buried on Sunday.
“What I’m happy about, the Bay chairman made it clear that Mtolo’s kids won’t suffer, they will get their share and that is our wish,” said Ntshangase to iDiski Times.
“People who are involved in football know that there is money that comes from the PSL that goes to the family and the club. But the way he [chair Biyela] said it made me happy because it shows they are going to sort it out with the league.
“I’m relieved because the family was going to look at me at how I’m going to help them, but since chair Biyela said [this will be sorted] I’m relieved.
“It is something I was going to talk about with Biyela as time goes by to find out how we can solve this so that Mtolo’s kids can continue with life.”
According to iDiski Times sources, Bay will get 50 percent from the insurance settlement of Mtolo and the other will go to his family, just like this happened to Brilliant Khuzwayo, whose career was cut short at Orlando Pirates due to heel injury in the 2018/19 season.
Ntshangase, who also represents Yonela Mbuthuma, Sibongiseni Mthwethwa and Langelihle Mhlongo at Bay, said he had plans with Mtolo and there were also clubs who had shown interest in him before.

“I had many plans about Mtolo as his representative,” he added.
“It didn’t start now, but when he moved from Uthongathi to Richards Bay. It is an unspoken truth that Mtolo had his wishes to play for big clubs in the PSL.
“When Sifiso Hlanti and Makhehleni Makhaula (players Ntshangase represents) joined the big clubs, Mtolo said his time was close to joining that list. There were big clubs who had spoken to me about Mtolo but it was not something I needed to talk about publicly.”
