Mamelodi Sundowns Chairman Tlhopie Motsepe and Kaitlin Hunt have begun their SAFA D License coaching courses.

Hunt, who’s often showcased her interest in coaching on social media and is the daughter of four-time PSL league winner Gavin Hunt was pictured alongside Motsepe at the SAFA Ekurhleni D License course this past weekend.

The D License is the entry-level coaching badge provided by the South African Football Association and the regional section of SAFA confirmed via social media the presence of the duo alongside 37 coaches on days one and two.

“Amongst the 37 coaches who are attending the course we are honored by the presence of both Motsepe Tlhopie the Chairman of Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Kaitlin Hunt the daughter of coach Gavin Hunt,” the statement read.

“We take pride to be the preferred partner in their coaching education and nation-building.”

Motsepe doesn’t hold any professional footballing coaching aspirations but rather looking towards equipping himself with knowledge and immersing himself further into the local football development.

“I had a brief chat with Tlhopie, he said he just wanted to understand the fundamental elements and dynamics as Sundowns have a youth development so he just wants to understand the ins out outs of players, how to treat them, especially the small ones,” Teboho Mahoa, the Regional Executive Officer of SAFA Ekurhleni told iDiski Times.

“I haven’t spoken to Kaitlin but Tlhopie said he just wanted the background of coaching. I can say he has an aspiration to go beyond the entry-level D License so that’s the more to do with youth kids, under the age of 15.

“So Thlopie, wanting to enrich his knowledge a bit, will opt for a C and possibly a B license.”

The D license usually takes around eight days to complete but with the current course taking place over weekends, they will likely receive their entry-level license at the end of this month.

He was named Chairman of the DStv Premiership champions upon his father, Patrice, being elected as the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

And his son has earned plaudits since taking over, for his role in looking to improve the brand of the club to replicate the on-field success that has been achieved over the past decade of dominating South African football.
