Bafana Bafana forward Bongokuhle Hlongwane found the net in a Man of the Match display while Bradley Carnell continued his perfect start to life in Major League Soccer.
Hlongwane, 22, opened his account for the 2023 season by opening the scoring with a close-range finish in their 1-1 draw against New York Red Bulls.
The draw moved them to sixth place with four points, albeit with a game in hand over the current Western Conference Leaders Saint Lious City – coached by none other than former Bafana left-back Bradley Carnell.
City beat Portland 2-1, with Njabulo Blom a notable absentee due to illness this week, with eight goals and nine points in their first ever three games in the MLS, it’s a dream start for Carnell at the new franchise – who face San Jose next in the league.
