Official: Striker Coach Announces Pirates Exit

Orlando Pirates striker coach Scott Chickelday has announced his exit at the club after just one month.

In the beginning of January, Chickelday had announced his arrival at Orlando Stadium, with Jose Riveiro later confirming the Englishman’s arrival.

However, it seems the Striker Coach only had a short-term one-month contract with the Buccaneers, as he announced his exit on Sunday.

“Not the result I wanted in my last game with Orlando Pirates. Competed and dominated for 90 minutes to lose 1-0 against top of the table Masandawana,” he wrote on social media.

“Thanks to everyone involved with the club and and to the fantastic supporters for making me so welcome! Once & Always. Up the Bucs.”

Pirates had been struggling in front of goal and were one of three teams with less than 10 goals in the DStv Premiership before his arrivals.

However, in the four matches that Chickelday was part of the technical team, Pirates scored nine goals.

Chickeldaycpreviously worked at academy level with Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers before opting to focus on strikers.

He has had some high-profile clients so far, with Liverpool’s Harvey Elliot and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins among the players who have previously worked with him.
