New Orlando Pirates midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula has broken his silence after his move to the Buccaneers was confirmed.

The 33-year-old joined Pirates on a one-and-a-half year deal after his new side agreed to an early transfer with AmaZulu, with the playing having already agreed to join the Soweto giants upon the expiry of his contract in July.

On Tuesday, Usuthu and Pirates confirmed that they have found an early agreement, with the Sea Robbers thanking their counterparts for the way they’ve conducted the transfer.

“The Club would like to thank AmaZulu management for the professional manner in how the transfer of Makhaula was handled,” the club said via a statement.

“Usuthu, through the leadership and guidance of Chairman Sandile Zungu, was transparent and cooperative throughout the negotiations, making the process quick and smooth for both clubs.

“We would like to commend the board for their conduct and wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.”

Makhaula also thanked his former club, saying: “As I begin a new chapter in my career, I cannot do so without paying homage to my former club. To the entire board, the technical team, my teammates and the supporters of Usuthu, thank you all for everything you have done for me.”

He also expressed his excitement to continue his playing career at Orlando Stadium.

“I am so happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in the country. It’s a dream come true for me,” said the 33-year-old.

“I am looking forward to meeting up with my new teammates and helping the Club move towards reaching their objectives.”
