Orlando Pirates have provided the latest injury update ahead of their DStv Premiership clash against Marumo Gallants.

The Buccaneers will take a trip to North West on Saturday, 28 January, with Bahlabani Ba Ntwa hosting the match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

ORLANDO PIRATES RECEIVE LORCH AND OFORI BOOST

The Soweto giants have received a boost in goals with Richard Ofori having returned following an almost two-month absence due to a knee injury.

The Ghanaian goalkeeper was last on the field on 5 November 2022 when the Buccaneers edged past AmaZulu 1-0 to lift the MTN8 trophy.

The 29-year-old shot-stopper’s injury also led to him missing the FIFA World Cup that took place in Qatar between November and December.

The Buccaneers have also confirmed the return of Thembinkosi Lorch in training. He last featured for the club on 21 August 2022 against SuperSport United in a match that ended in a goalless stalemate.

The Bloemfontein-born attacking midfielder has only made five appearances for the Buccaneers this season.

“Having kicked off the year with a few of their stars sidelined, the Buccaneers have made some strides on the injury front with the likes of Richard Ofori and Thembinkosi Lorch now back in training,” the club said in the statement.

Miguel Timm is another player who’s returning after sitting out in the previous match against Stellenbosch.

The 30-year-old midfielder had suffered a minor injury and was replaced by Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo who then scored his first goal for the Sea Robbers.

MAROU EDGES CLOSER TO BUCS DEBUT

Meanwhile, the new striker Souaibou Marou is edging closer to making his Ezimnyama Ngenkani debut according to the club’s website.

“New recruit Souaibou Marou edges closer to his Bucs debut after completing his first full week of training with his new teammates,” the statement added.

Pirates currently sit fourth in the DStv Premiership table with 25 points after 17 games. On the other hand, Gallants are 16th with 15 points after 19 games.
