One of the best things about seafood other than the great produce we get in South Africa is that it’s easy and quick to cook. The weather is perfect and it’s time for your seafood braai. If you have friends coming over who enjoy a bit of spice, make these hot Mozambican peri-peri prawns. With a chilie-infused oil and perfectly cooked prawns, you’ll have a mouthful of flavour and texture that is out of this world.
Mozambican peri-peri prawns
This dish is great for pan cooking on the stove, but if you have a large skillet on the fire or gas outside, you’ll also make the neighbours jealous of the amazing smells. You can of course adjust the spiciness of the infused oil and even make different batches for those who don’t like it hot. Remember to clean your prawns but don’t remove the heads, horn and shells as a lot of the flavour comes from there. These tasty prawns are great with a bed of rice and fresh green salad. Also have some fresh bread nearby because you’re going to want to soak up the sauce.
