Newly signed Maritzburg striker Kwame Peprah has assured that the club will be in a better space come end of the season.
Peprah was unveiled by the club on Thursday, joining them on loan from Orlando Pirates alongside Bradley Cross and Ali Meza, who is returning to the club after leaving the Pietermaritzburg side in January 2021.
They all come to Maritzburg who are languishing at the second from bottom with 17 points after 16 matches played.
Fadlu Davids’ side have won only four matches this season, beating Chippa United, Kwame’s parent club – Pirates, Marumo Gallants and Royal AM, losing seven in the process.
“Seeing Maritzburg at the bottom and looking at the quality that is here, I don’t think they deserve to be at the bottom,” said Peprah.
“That’s why I chose to come here and build the team and move it to the top.
“Having said that, it’s been a good time here and I’m looking forward to helping the team achieve the goals.
“By end of the season, Maritzburg will be in a good position.”
The Ghanaian striker joined Pirates at the beginning of last season from King Faisal in his home country, with the Bucs capturing his signature at the time when Davids last season was the co-coach with Mandla Ncikazi.
Davids left at the end of last season to forge his own career and when his stint at Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia was cut short, he joined Maritzburg in November last year.
Davids has been in charge of three matches since the season resumed post the FIFA World Cup, losing to TS Galaxy, beating Gallants and Royal AM. The latter match on Sunday Peprah missed as his registration and paperwork are yet to be issued. Maritzburg will hope everything is in order when they visit Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday.
