Zwane Vows To Bounce With Sundowns As Next Opponents

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has vowed that his side will bounce after they were crushed 4-0 by AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday night.

Chiefs’ chances of bouncing back will be against a Mamelodi Sundowns side that has no mercy of late under coach Rulani Mokwena as it is beating everyone and sitting pretty on top of the DStv Premiership table.

“It was just a bad day in the office and we will regroup and come back as a better team,” said after the game where he struggled to utter words based on what was a painful loss to Usuthu that they hardly lost in Durban.

This was Usuthu’s first win over Chiefs in 24 years in Durban, with the last time the team from beating Chiefs in the province was in 1998/99 season.

It was also sweet revenge for Usuthu as 11 years ago, Bernard Parker scored four goals against Usuthu as Chiefs 6-0 at the very same venue in the 2012/13 season.

“It was one of those days where we were making mistakes, they took them,” added Zwane.

“We created chances and we didn’t capitalize on them. I look at the overall performance of the team, in the first half they were looking for the space to break for counter attacks.

“They played from second balls and to be quite honest I think the boys tried their best. At some stage we were dominating and the boys did well.”

Despite Usuthu scoring four goals and dominating the middle of the park against Chiefs, Zwane’s side, in the second half they improved with Nkosi Ngcobo coming close. Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana also missed a penalty in the first half

“You look at Mshini (Nkosi Ngcobo), he had a good game today. You look at (Samkelo) Zwane, he had a good game,” said Zwane.

“Actually the players of AmaZulu were not better than our players. We just made mistakes that were costly at the end of the day.

“A I said, we didn’t take the chances that we created and also from dead balls (we conceded two goals). You look at that and what chances they created, I don’t think they were better than us.”

Chiefs will host Sundowns at the FNB Stadium next Saturday (20:00). It doesn’t get any better for Chiefs as they were soundly defeated 4-0 in the first round. Again mistakes were plenty at the back to give Sundowns easy goals and they will have to be better than that as this Sundowns side is much more efficient now.
