After years as a journalist for new broadcaster eNCA, Shahan Ramkissoon has ditched his high-pressure career to become a gin craftsman, launching his new product Lenyora.
He’s also created a media publication aimed at sharing the good news from around South Africa.
SHAHAN RAMKISSOON LAUNCHES GIN
Sharing the news on Twitter, Shahan Ramkissoon tweeted: “I’ve launched my very own proudly South African gin called Lenyora.”
Elaborating on the name, he continued: “Wanting the brand to be proudly South African, Lenyora is Sesotho and fittingly means thirst in English, hence the tagline: ‘The thirst is real’. Interestingly, Lenyora, in South African slang, can also mean ‘boss’ or ‘top dog’”.
Shahan is known for grilling high-profile figures in South Africa like Bheki Cele or John Steenhuisen. But he’s since left that in the past to explore a new chapter.
Responding to a tweep, he tweeted: “I ditched arguing with dodgy politicians. I now have a good news website focusing on positive stories only”.
Shahan’s news was met with a positive response from his followers, who vowed to support the local gin.
CELEBS WITH THEIR OWN ALCOHOL BRANDS
Shahan Ramkissoon is not the only public figure with an alcoholic beverage on the market.
