Former Pirates Defender On Trials At Royal AM

Former Orlando Pirates right-back Mthokozisi Dube is being assessed by Royal AM, iDiski Times has learnt.

Dube has been without a club since leaving Pirates at the end of last season. He was loaned out to Golden Arrows in that season, but Pirates did not renew his contract.

He has been without a club since the beginning of the campaign, but he is now trying his luck at Royal AM who are trying to boost their defence.

Meanwhile, iDiski Times has learnt that Sibusiso Maqaga has been signed permanently by Royal AM after he was released by AmaZulu.

The 24-year-old was previously on loan at the club in the 2020/21 season when Royal AM was campaigning in the Motsepe Foundation Championship before boss Shauwn MaMkhize bought the status of Bloemfontein Celtic at the beginning of last season.

When Magaqa was on loan, he formed a good friendship with club’s chairman Andile Mpisane. When Magaqa lost his father, MaMkhize footed the bill to bury him and the relationship has remained cordial ever since.

Another player Royal AM are assessing and they are close to signing is Samkelo Mgwazela, this publication has learnt.

AmaZulu released him and have not terminated his contract, but to see if Royal AM will be happy with his fitness and everything before they can decide to sign him on loan or on a permanent move.

As it was confirmed by iDiski Times recently, Royal AM also welcomed right-back Luckyboy Mokoena, who was released by TS Galaxy.

If Mokoena is signed by Royal AM, it will be the second time he’s playing in KwaZulu-Natal having played for Real Kings, the club that MaMkhize loaned her players to three seasons ago after the end of her relationship with Royal Eagles.
