Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has backed Argentina to beat France in Sunday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
The game will kick off at 17:00 at Lusail Stadium with millions of fans from all over the world being expected to tune in.
The game will be a clash of two two two-time World Cup winners, with Argentina having lifted the trophy in 1978 and 1986, while France won it in 1998 and 2018.
Khanye believes Argentina have what it takes to beat the defending champions, saying superstar and captain Lionel Messi has a team around him that complements his strengths.
“I believe Argentina will win this game by 1-0 but they will score in the extra-time or they will win on penalties,” he said on iDiski TV.
“I know France will be very concerned about Lionel Messi. I don’t think Argentinian players will let it go, they want to do it for their captain and senior player Lionel Messi.
“He is the best, one of the best. You know when you play under pressure and everybody is expecting you to rise and you rise that is something else.
“He is a star. He understands the game, he simplifies when it’s necessary, he takes responsibility when he has to take it he doesn’t complicate things.
“He’s got a team that is around him and they complementing him. It’s my first time to see Argentina more structured like this. When they defend they defend as a team.”
