Manchester United have announced they have released superstar Cristiano Ronaldo “by mutual consent” after his bombshell interview.

Last week, Piers Morgan released an explosive interview with the United superstar, during which the 37-year-old said he “feels betrayed” by the club and “doesn’t respect” the United coach.

The Premier League side then released a statement, saying they “will consider its response after the full facts have been established” and now confirmed they have parted ways with the 37-year-old.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect,” the club said via a statement.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”

Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford at the beginning of 2021/22 after leaving the club for Real Madrid in 2009. He scored 118 goals in 293 appearances for the Red Devils during his first stint, helping United to lift 10 trophies, while he netted another 27 during his second stint.
