An entrepreneur from Alexandra township has started a toilet paper manufacturing company.

The first-ever two-month Alexandra Youth Entrepreneurial Summit has unearthed a new entreprernuner, Shane Malatji of Phumula Toilet Paper Manufacturing who has started a toilet paper manufacturing company.

The summit which was held in September and October at the Greater Alexandra Digital Incubation Hub as part of a partnership between Khulisa Social Solutions, the Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce (Galxcoc), Qalisa Hub, 243 Pro-network, Ubuntu Business, and TuksNovation is aimed at awakening the youth’s sleeping potential.

Malatji spoke about how he found himself without a job and had to figure out what was next during COVID 19.

“I started this company somewhere in 2020, I had recently lost my job where I was working at some manufacturing company and due to COVIID 19, I was let go. i had to sit down and ask myself what am I going to do right now because I don’t want to sit on the streets of Alex and do nothing.

“With the experience, I had in the manufacturing industry, I didn’t have the equipment, I also did not have funds.”
