Kruger National Park is ready for the festive season.
It says security measures are in place for the influx of visitors.
It follows security concerns in the area since the killing of a German tourist in October.
That murder sparked concerns that bookings may be cancelled.
SANParks is encouraging tourists to report any suspicious activity in and around the park.
“Tourists can report things like animals with snares and anything suspicious that they see. So that’s a major positive and we encourage tourists to report anything to us so that we can respond accordingly and immediately,” said head ranger Cathy Greyer.
“Obviously there are challenges with lots of people coming into the park, which is what we are hoping for, ends up with some tourists not abiding by the rules and these issues relate to speeding and littering and we know that some criminals do make use of our access gates to illegally enter the park and carry out crimes specifically related to wildlife.
“So those are some of our concerns but for rangers’ services, it is business as usual, we are required to be on the ground 365 days a year.”
