Malawi’s coach Kalisto is on the cusp of winning an eighth consecutive league title.

The Zimbabwean needs four points from the remaining three games to retain the TNM Super League title for a fourth consecutive time.

Pasuwa wants to build on four back-to-back league championships which he won with Zimbabwe’s Dynamos before joining Bullets in 2018.

BULLETS FIVE POINTS CLEAR

Bullets defeated Wakawaka Tigers 2-0 at Malawi FA-owned Mpira Stadium in Blantyre on Wednesday to move five points clear of second-placed Blue Eagles.

The Malawi police-owned Eagles have two games to go in the 16-member league.

Bullets can close in on an overall record-extending 16th league title when hosting Moyale Barracks on Saturday.

The Blantyre giants also won the FDH Bank cup recently after beating their reserve side 3-1.

Bullets are also chasing Airtel Top 8 championship.

BABATUNDE STEPS UP GOLDEN BOOT CHASE

Striker Babatunde Adepoju, who emerged as FDH Cup Golden Boot Awardee, also leads the Super League top scorer race.

Adepoju scored in the game against Tigers on Wednesday to increase his Golden Boot Award prospects.

The Nigerian scored in the 38th minute to make it 17 goals from 26 games.

Patrick Mwaungulu scored Bullets’ other goal in the 78th minute. Adepoju is two goals clear of ex-Polokwane City’s Muhamad Sulumba of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

Sulumba fired blanks in Wanderers’ 0-1 home loss to Moyale Barracks FC on Wednesday. Fifth-placed Wanderers are 14 points behind Bullets with three games to go.

Elsewhere, Mafco thrashed Karonga United 5-0 to cement sixth position on the log table. Mphatso Philemoni, former Baroka striker Richard Mbulu, Malunga (double) and Sukwambe were on target for Mafco.

The Malawi domestic league runs from March to December. Mobile phone service provider TNM sponsors the league to the tune of around $80,000. League champions pocket around $30,000.
