Sekhukhune Closing In On New Head Coach

Sekhukhune United are set to announce their new head coach this week, with Brandon Truter leading the race to succeed Kaitano Tembo.

Truter impressed the Babina Noko hierarchy during his recent interview which has put him ahead of the pecking order as the likes of John Maduka, who is among the shortlisted candidates.

Several CV’s flooded in after the sacking of Kaitano Tembo last month, with the club languishing in 15th place in the DStv Premiership and two points off 14th-placed Swallows.

Eric Tinkler was also linked with the role but with his job seemingly still safe at Cape Town City, a move for the Bafana Bafana legend seems unlikely at this stage.

Babina Noko have also made initial contact with Ernst Middendorp to enquire about his availability, having recently embarked on a new development project with FIFA, but it appears the club are set on Truter.

Truter was relieved of his duties by AmaZulu after 19 games in charge and replaced by Frenchman Romain Folz, but with United’s precarious position, a short-term deal until the end of the season looks set to be offered.

A couple of candidates will likely still be interviewed over the next two days before a final decision is made, as the club looks to improve their fortunes in the second half of the season.
