Royal AM are set to face Linafoot giants TP Mazembe in the playoffs round of TotalEnergies CAF Confederations Cup in Lubumbashi and coach Khabo Zondo says they’re up for the test.

Thwihli Thwahla arrived in Lubumbashi on Tuesday as they set to face five-time CAF Champions League winners Mazembe.

The South African side is coming to this game after eliminating Mbabane Highlanders of eSwatini and ZESCO United of Zambia.

Zondo aims to continue with his plan of making sure they don’t concede away from home if they do so then they must score also. The 60-year-old mentioned that they know going to the Democratic Republic of Congo will never be easy even though Mazembe hasn’t been doing well continental.

“We have to go there and be disciplined and make sure that they don’t score, we score, then we have a chance if we do score maybe one or two goals, and when we come here home we even become more disciplined and make sure that we wrap up the game,” he told the media.

With so many stories said about Stade TP Mazembe which is the home ground of Mazembe, Zondo said they are up for the challenge.

“From the times when we re-admitted to FIFA we knew already how difficult it is to be there we can’t be singing so much about the situations that we going to face there it’s a situation that everyone knows,” he added.

“We don’t want to be crying babies and say when you go to DR Congo it’s difficult. We know it’s gonna be difficult so we’re up for it. Let’s understand that we are a team that plays at this level and we are up for the challenge.”

The KwaZulu Natal outfit face off against Mazembe this afternoon for the first leg playoff at 15h00.
