Marumo Gallants defender Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo is set to part-ways with the DStv Premiership club on mutual agreement, iDiski Times has learnt.
The 28-year-old defender started the season well, featuring in seven games so far but missed the most recent two games against TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The news about his potential departure comes as a surprise because he seemed to have secured a spot in the club’s starting XI this season.
In the seven games the former Jomo Cosmos defender played, he won two Man of the Match awards when Bahlabane Baa Ntwaana played a 2-2 draw with Royal AM and a 0-0 with Richards Bay.
But after winning the second Man of the Match award he was dropped to the bench when Gallants faced Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium and he only came in as a substitute at the beginning of the second half. He then started the next three league games but hasn’t been part of the squad since Dan Malesela took over.
It has now reached iDiskiTimes that Hlatshwayo is set to part ways with the club on mutual agreement.
The former Polokwane City defender could even still leave before the FIFA World Cup break as the source confirmed that he has stopped training with the club and everything is almost done.
Gallants are sitting at the bottom of the table after 10 games played and they have only won once, which was against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium.
They might be the last on the log stands, but they are fourth when it comes to fewest goals conceded in the DStv Premiership, as they only conceded eight times so far. Their next assignment is against AmaZulu on Wednesday evening before welcoming Cape Town City on Saturday afternoon ahead of the FIFA World Cup break.
