SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has warned his players face being axed if they drop playing standards after claiming back-to-back victories in the DStv Premiership.

SuperSport have been on a high after beating Royal AM 3-1 before brushing Sekhukhune United with the same score line at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday.

Hunt has now come out to warn his players to remain consistent or else they’ll be dropped or released from the team.

“That won’t happen here [players getting big-headed] because they won’t play or they’ll go,” Hunt told the media.

“So we won’t have any of that, so that’s what I do all day. It’s not about coaching. It’s about observing who drops standards.

“Win or lose, we have to keep the standards high, and that goes for the whole club.

“If we wanna be competitive, we need to start from top to bottom,” added Hunt.

The former Kaizer Chiefs mentor has also heaped praises on Siphesihle Ndlovu, who was signed by SuperSport from Orlando Pirates.

“We were so lucky to get him, I knew that’s what we need, and he will get better with time and games,” said the coach.

After a slow start to the new campaign, the Tshwane-based side have turned the corner to win five games, draw two and lose three times in ten games played thus far.

SuperSport is currently third on the league table at 17 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns and Richards Bay, who are on 19 and 18 points, respectively.

United will be hoping to finish in a respectable position after finishing eighth on the log last season under the guidance of Kaitano Tembo.

The Spartans face Steve Barker’s Stellenbosch at Danie Craven Stadium on the 18th of October in their next encounter as they aim to intensify their push for the Premiership title chase.
