Royal AM coach Abram Nteo has backed chairman-cum-midfielder Andile Mpisane to make an impact on the field of play for the club.
Mpisane has not featured in an official match for Royal AM this season but came on in the dying minutes as a substitute during the Macufe Cup match against Kaizer Chiefs in Bloemfontein most recently.
He was also an unused substitute during the KwaZulu-Natal Derby against Richards Bay in the DStv Premiership.
The 21-year-old has looked rather unfit for a professional football player, but Nteo insists the player is working hard to break into the team.
NTEO ON ANDILE
“We have players that with more coaching and more training they will improve, so there are signs that they will improve,” said Nteo after their 3-1 defeat by SuperSport United on Tuesday evening.
“But there is something that he has in terms of playing but look he will come alright.
“He is doing well in training so he will come alright, give him time, he will come alright.”
Nteo adds that Mpisane is treated like any other player when he is on the field and not seen in his capacity as a chairman of the club.
“No, we take him as a player when he is in the field of play. We push him like any other player we push. So we don’t regard him as a chairman when we are working in the field,” he said.
“But to be honest he is pushing himself. He is even doing the extra work at training so you can see that he wants to play so we are happy with the process that he is going through.
“Remember, the games are too close to each other, so we wanted to get other players to regain fitness because some of the players that we left are from injuries, so we need to speed up their recovery so that they are ready when we play against Zesco.”
