Ex-Downs Star Lauds Erasmus Move To Pirates

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse has approved the move of Kermit Erasmus to Orlando Pirates.

Erasmus left Sundowns on the final day of the transfer window to join the Pirates after making 43 appearances for Masandawana in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and assisting on seven occasions.

Arendse who is without a club ever since he left Downs has applauded Erasmus’ decision to leave the DStv Premiership champions, he also mentioned that it wasn’t gonna be easy for him to make into the team as Peter Shalulile keeps on scoring goals for Sundowns.

“Any player who’s is the calibre of Erasmus will get frustrated. He is a striker that is scoring goals, he would want to be on the pitch and score goals and Peter has been there knocking in the goals for Sundowns. So he has been living in the shadow a bit,” he told iDiski Times.

“So obviously he needed that game-time also not playing just training, you gonna get frustrated as a player. And I think it was a good call for him to go.

“Also for Sundowns to release him so that he can go out there and play a bit so that you can see the talent, also Bafana can see there are players out there, so that they can give them a chance.

“So for me, I think it’s good for him. Because he will get that time to play.”

Erasmus made his second Pirates debut off the bench against his former club in the MTN8 semi-final first leg as both sides played to a goalless draw on Saturday.
