According to the PSL, the 2026 Carling Knockout Cup draw will be held on Wednesday night 14 October at 19:00. The event will be live on SuperSport 202 and SABC 2.
“The last 16 draw for the 2026 edition of the Carling Knockout Cup takes place tonight at 19:00, live on PSL Channel (202) and SABC 2,” the league said on its social media accounts.
THE PSL CARLING KNOCK DRAW PROCEDURE
“The Carling Knockout is contested by all 16 clubs participating in the Betway Premiership. The Last 16 Draw will determine the fixtures and the home and away designations for the opening round of the competition,” the league said.
“Three bowls will be used for the draw: Pot A contains the eight seeded clubs that finished in positions 1 to 8 in the previous Betway Premiership season (Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu FC, Sekhukhune United, Lamontville Golden Arrows, Polokwane City, and Durban City)…
“Pot B is an initially empty pot used to determine home and away designations; and Pot C contains the names of the remaining unseeded eight clubs (Stellenbosch FC, Siwelele FC, Richards Bay FC, TS Galaxy, Chippa United, Marumo Gallants, Kruger United, and Milford FC).”
The league added to say the draw procedure will see a ball from the seeded bowl (Pot A) and place it in the empty bowl (Pot B) without opening. They will then draw a ball from the unseeded bowl (Pot C) and place it in the empty bowl (Pot B) without opening it.
Finally, they will then go to Pot B and draw the first ball for home, and the second ball for away.
2025 CARLING KNOCKOUT CUP RECAP
Last season’s edition crowned the mighty Orlando Pirates after a narrow victory over Marumo Gallants. Relebohile Mofokeng found the late winner in the 105th minute of extra time at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Gallants had turned heads after sending out the Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the first round of 16 in their own backyard.
Another major upset saw Stellenbosch FC knockout Kaizer Chiefs on penalties at a packed DHL Stadium, where goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari stole the show on 5 October.
Orlando Pirates battled their way to the final with a 1-0 victory over Siwelele FC, a 2-1 win against Magesi and another 1-0 triumph over Richards Bay in the semi-finals. Gallants also thrashed Stellenbosch F C 4-0 in the quarter-finals before overcoming Golden Arrows on penalties following a 2-2 draw in the semi-finals.
Orlando Pirates eventually beat Gallants in the final, ending a 14-year wait for another League Cup title. It also added to the club’s domestic cup success following their MTN8 triumph earlier in the season.
The final was also a memorable occasion for Pirates captain Mbekezile Mbokazi. He lifted the trophy before his reported move to Major League Soccer, bringing an eventful cup campaign to a close.
