Mulenga Set For Next Move After Recovery

Former AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates forward Augustine Mulenga is set to sign a short-term deal with Zambian club Zanaco after recovering from injury.

The 32-year-old forward was one of Usuthu’s leading performers before suffering a serious achilles tendon rupture leading to him eventually being released upon the expiry of his contract.

While his exit was hotly debated and questions marks raised over the lack of support for one of their key players the season prior, Mulenga returned to his homeland for his recovery period.

Several DStv Premiership clubs enquired about his services but with Mulenga well short of match fitness, he’s spent the last month with Zanaco, where he’s featured in a couple of friendly games.

iDiski Times has reliably been informed the Zambia international will now put pen to paper on a deal until the January transfer window as he looks to get back to full fitness. Medicals have been scheduled for Thursday ahead of the expected unveiling.

Mulenga scored eight goals and registered 13 assists in 48 games for the KZN outfit before parting ways at the end of last season.
