Saleng and Nkota could decide the MTN8 final and here’s how

Monnapule Saleng and Mohau Nkota could make their first appearances of the season when Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns meet in the MTN8 final on Saturday.

The two South African football giants will battle for the trophy at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, with both sides hoping to get their hands on silverware.

Nkota, who joined Pirates on loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, was spotted in training this week after recovering from an injury.

The winger could make a surprise appearance in the final, with coach Abdeslam Ouaddou potentially handing him an opportunity in the second half. His pace and attacking ability could provide the Buccaneers with an additional option as they look to overcome Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Saleng has also returned to training at Sundowns, raising hopes that he could feature against his former club.

The winger’s future at Chloorkop had been uncertain following reports of a fallout with head coach Miguel Cardoso. However, his return to training suggests that the situation may be improving.

Saleng has unfinished business with Pirates

Having previously played for Pirates and scored in an MTN8 final, Saleng could now find himself facing his former teammates in a potentially intriguing storyline.

Former Sundowns midfielder Brent Carelse, who scored the winning goal the last time the Brazilians defeated Pirates in a cup final, has welcomed Saleng’s return.

“That’s good for him personally and good for the team. I think he’s a player we need, he’s got a lot of creativity and the fans obviously like him, they obviously would like to see him playing,” Carelse told KickOff.

“So, hopefully he will get back into the squad and back into the field as quickly as possible. But we’re excited to see him come back again.”

Who will win the final?
