Kaizer Chiefs Team Manager Bobby Motaung has explained that while the Amakhosi won’t make any more signings this window, they are still looking for new additions and might dive into the January transfer window.
The Glamour Boys have rung the changes this window, bringing in nine new players, while as many as 15 left in one of the biggest squad revamps in recent seasons.
But the club won’t make any additions on Deadline Day, with coach Arthur Zwane already revealing his side are done with signings for the current window.
Bobby Motaung now echoed Zwane’s statement but also revealed the club might do some more business in the upcoming January window.
“At the moment, yes, we not signing anybody now,” he told Thabiso Mosia on SAFMSportON.
“But obviously in the season, we’re still looking where we are lacking. This is football, you never close the doors shut.
“We always look at opportunities. If there is an area we need to beef up, we will beef up.
“There is another window coming before the end of the season. So we will be looking, we’re still looking.“
Motaung also insinuated that Chiefs are being quoted higher prices than other club’s, which makes the manoeuvring in the transfer market a bit harder.
“Money is an issue everywhere. When Chiefs wants a player, you know the price changes. It goes up, it changes,” he added.
“But money is a challenge as well when it comes to these issues. But if there’s a need for a particular position, we negotiate.
“Our negotiations, it’s a two-way street, the club must be prepared to sell, and we must be prepared with the price, so it’s a two-way street.
“Sometimes clubs don’t want to sell and obviously they don’t negotiate in good faith, sometimes. Sometimes they do, because they value the player the way they value them, and it also depends on how we value the player.
“So, it’s a tit-for-tat thing, it’s not an overnight decision to say we don’t want to buy, it’s about calculations – how do you calculate, how do you value the player.”
