Deputy President Paul Mashatile has resumed his official duties following his recovery.
This was announced by Mashatile’s acting spokesperson, Keith Khoza, in a statement issued on Thursday.
Khoza said Mashatile officially returned to work at the beginning of the week after making a full recovery.
The Office of the Deputy President thanked South Africans and various stakeholders for their messages of goodwill and support during his recovery.
“Your thoughts, prayers and calls have been greatly appreciated,” Mashatile said.
“They have all made a positive impact on the journey towards recovery. For that, I am most grateful.”
Khoza also commended members of the media for their continued enquiries and communication, as well as for monitoring the Deputy President’s recovery.
Over the coming days, Mashatile is expected to chair Cabinet committees, attend the Mid-Term Budget Policy Statement, engage with interfaith communities, respond to oral questions in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) and resume his political programme.
