Al Ahly have finally given an update the medical status of Percy Tau and revealed the players expected return date.
There had been a lot of rumours around Tau’s future, after some false reports stated Al Ahly had opted to release him just one year into a four-year contract.
However, Tau is still with the club, as sources have confirmed to iDiski Times, but he was sidelined with a muscle injury.
In addition, a deadline day move to French Ligue 2 side Le Havre didn’t materialise, with the two clubs being unable to agree to a fee.
Al Ahly, who had been quiet on Tau’s situation, confirmed on Monday that the South African winger should return to team training next week.
“Tau has recovered from his injury, he’s going through the rehabilitation phase right now,” club director of football Sayed Abdelhafiz told the club’s media team.
“The player is doing what he has to do and in around a week from now he should be joining the group training.”
Al Ahly return to action under new coach Marcel Koller after the international break when they will take on Monastir in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round on 7 and 14 October.
