Miss Supranational South Africa is now under new leadership, as former Mrs SA titleholder Joani Jacobs takes over the reins from Miss South Africa 2010 Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala.

Inspiration behind the decision

According to Daily Sun, the decision stems from Lalela Mswane’s historic win, becoming the first South African to win the Miss Supranational title in 2022. It’s reported that Joani said the new leadership team want to build on Lalela’s success while preparing the next titleholder for the opportunities that come with the crown.

Lalela’s win inspired Joani, affirming that South African women can compete at the very highest level in the Supranational pageant. The new team now has a chance to build a legacy on top of Lalela’s historic win.

What the new management means

The Miss Supranational pageant was founded in Poland in 2009. The pageant has now grown into one of the world’s leading beauty pageants.

Joani feels the pageant shouldn’t be the end of the journey but rather the beginning. She explains that the team plans to play a much larger role in preparing contestants; it is not simply preparation to win, but preparation to handle all the opportunities and responsibilities that come with the crown.

More about Joani Jacobs

Joani founded her modelling agency Ace International in 2009 and has led the Mrs South Africa pageant since 2011. The beauty queen will be joined by a well-experienced team, including PR Worx CEO Madelain Rochester and Miss South Africa 2002 Cindy Nell-Roberts as shareholders.

2016 Mrs South Africa Second Princess Marlene Reddy-Ribeiro will lead operations, and Jacqueline Ferns and Matapa Maila will serve as board members.

The new leadership team informed that details around entries, casting, the national selection process and the like will be announced soon.
