Unathi would stock on the weed and had a man who sold it in the streets working for him. After a few months, he got tired of the illegal business and quit to become a personal trainer. This job paid him enough to take acting classes, leading him to land many roles in the industry.

Because of his criminal and challenging past in a crime-filled neighbourhood, he has his foundation where he helps young people who can not afford to pursue acting careers. He has helped several young people run from crime and opened doors with his entertainment industry knowledge. He is a proud father of five with four kids from his previous relationships with other women. His relationship with Zikhona Sodlaka started three years ago, and they are still growing strong.
