Orlando Pirates returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.

Zakhale Lepasa was the hero of the evening as he netted a brace to ensure Pirates seal the three points and register their fourth win of the season in eight games.

Lepasa will be relieved to finally get his first goal in as many games after an injury kept him on the sidelines for much of last season.

With the win, Pirates moved to the summit of the log standings with 14 points, but Mamelodi Sundowns can leapfrog the Soweto giants and move back to the top if they beat or draw against Golden Arrows in their game set to get underway this evening at 20:00 at Tuks Stadium.

The Galaxy encounter also saw the Buccaneers score more than a single goal for the first time in the league this season, as they have been struggling to find the back of the net regularly.

Lepasa opened his account for the season in the sixth minute of the game before making it 2-0 30 minutes later in a peformance which saw him walk away with the Man of the Match award.

The second goal was an own goal by defender Given Msimango

Meanwhile, in the earlier kickoff, Swallows suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Stellenbsoch at Wits Stadium.

Stellies scored all three goals of the match. The Western-cape side took the lead in the 28th minute, thanks to a strike by Sinethemba Mngomezulu. However, the Birds pulled one back through a Vusi Sibiya own goal on debut for Stellies.

The victors sealed the victory in the 53rd minute of the game as Junior Mendieta scored his second goal of the season.

At King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, AmaZulu were stunned by strugglers Chippa United, who recently fired coach Daine Klate.

Under the tutelage of Morgan Mammila, the Chilli Boys scored first goal inside the first 10 minutes of the game through a Roscoe Pietersen penalty. The young Azola Matrose, on loan from Pirates, made it 2-0 on the stroke of halftime.

Usuthu scored a consolation goal in the dying minutes of the clash via Veluyeke Zulu, with Chidi Kwem getting sent off a straight red card as emotions got the better of the striker.
