Zanele Potelwa chats to Thuso Mbedu about ‘Children of Blood and Bone’

Award-winning media personality Zanele Potelwa met up with Thuso Mbedu in New York to discuss the actress’ new film, Children of Blood and Bone. Stars gathered in the city for the press day for the trailer launch viewing.

Thuso Mbedu and Zanele Potelwa among the stars

Thuso stated how she is honoured, grateful and excited to play the role of Zeile in the film, a role she holds near to her heart. She wanted everyone to enjoy the film and believed viewers should fight for what they believe in.

Amongst other notable names at the viewing was the film director and co-writer Gina Prince-Bythewood, who gave Zanele an inside scoop about why she loves working with Thuso and continues to trust her work, while also mentioning that she believes she is a generational talent.

Other cast members present at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York were Regina King, Lashana Lynch and Tosin Cole, to name a few.

Wearing a stunning dress by Otiz Seflo, styled by Mr Suave and hair done by Sibahle Siyakhula, Zanele looked breathtaking amid talking to the talent that made the film what it is.

“I am so grateful to God for placing me in such spaces to get to work and dream even bigger. Getting to speak to a fellow South African doing amazing things on a global scale was an honour. I am so excited for everyone to watch the film next year in January,” said Zanele.

About Children of Blood and Bone

In the epic fantasy world of OrĂŻsha, a young woman goes on a quest to reclaim the magic that was violently stolen from her people. She and her brother ally with the daughter and son of the king to fight back against his brutal rule.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Children of Blood and Bone features a stellar cast including Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Tosin Cole, Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor, Academy Award winner Regina King, with Idris Elba and Academy Award winner Viola Davis.

The film trailer also features new original songs by Grammy Award-winning artists Tems and Burna Boy.
