Wednesday’s national shutdown was peaceful, with a powerful message. Government must do more to intervene in rising prices and the unemployment crisis. Streets around the country on Wednesday were draped in red as the Congress of South African Trade Unions and the Saftu embarked on a national shutdown.
The march was against the escalating cost of living, poor working conditions and high levels of unemployment, among other concerns.
