Actress Katlego Danke paid heartfelt respects to the late veteran actor Seputla Sebogodi during his memorial service at the State Theatre in Pretoria on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Katlego previously received backlash online for her silence since Seputla passed away.

Another memorial will take place on Friday, 24 July 2026, at the Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane, which will also serve as the venue for his funeral service.

Katlego Danke shares fond memories of Seputla Sebogodi

As one of the guests asked to speak, Katlego, who portrayed Seputla’s Generations character Kenneth Mashaba’s on-screen wife, Dineo Mashaba, reflected on the significance of the venue. She noted that both she and Seputla received their first South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) on the very stage where she stood.

She also fondly referred to him as her brother, stating, “Seputla used to protect me fiercely… I never worked with someone who believed in my talent even more than I did. He believed in my career and what I could do.”

Mentioning memorable first moments with the actor, Katlego also pointed out that Seputla had a love for finer things that were “quite hidden.”

“I remember the one time being on set and Kenneth and Dineo had to have crème brûlée, and he was like, ‘What is this thing, how do you eat it?” shared Katlego, who confessed that after shooting, she had to take her co-star to Melrose Arch to enjoy the sweet dessert.

As she concluded her time on the podium, Katlego touched on her last conversation with him. She asked him to collaborate with her on a project, to which he agreed despite not knowing the details.

“You’ll be sorely missed, but I guess I will always remember you.”
