March and March leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma has confirmed that anti-illegal immigration marches organised by the movement will proceed in various parts of South Africa, with 25 demonstrations scheduled across the country.

The announcement has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with South Africans expressing both support for and opposition to the planned demonstrations.

25 marches confirmed

In a social media update, Jacinta said 25 marches across the country have been confirmed.

She explained that while the majority of the demonstrations are scheduled to take place tomorrow, some have already begun today, with others expected to continue on Friday.

The coordinated marches are expected to be held in multiple provinces as supporters gather to voice their concerns over illegal immigration and related issues.

Public reaction remains divided

The announcement has generated mixed reactions online.

Some South Africans have welcomed the marches, saying they believe stronger action is needed to address illegal immigration and improve the enforcement of existing immigration laws.

Others have criticised the demonstrations, expressing concern that they could fuel tensions or unfairly target foreign nationals living in the country. Many have urged participants to ensure that any protests remain peaceful and within the law.

Calls for peaceful demonstrations

As the marches approach, there have been renewed calls for organisers and participants to conduct themselves peacefully and respect the rights of all people.

South African law protects the right to peaceful assembly, while authorities have consistently encouraged organisers to work with law enforcement to ensure public safety during demonstrations.

A closely watched campaign

The nationwide marches are expected to draw significant public attention, with many South Africans watching to see how events unfold over the coming days.

As conversations around immigration, border management and public safety continue, the planned demonstrations are likely to remain at the centre of national debate.
