Actor Zolisa Xaluva has sparked playful relationship speculation with Pearl Thusi after a seemingly affectionate moment at Netflix South Africa’s 10th anniversary celebration in Johannesburg.

The star was among the local entertainment personalities who attended the milestone event in Rosebank, where Netflix showcased its growing slate of South African productions and celebrated a decade of its presence in the country.

Zolisa Xaluva’s ‘hand placement’ gets attention

While the event centred on Netflix’s exciting local content offering, Zolisa’s interaction with a woman caught the attention of social media users.

The actor was spotted placing his hand low on the woman’s back, prompting fans to jokingly question whether the pair could be more than friends.

The seemingly subtle gesture quickly became a talking point, with some social media users describing the actor’s “hand placement” as a “dead giveaway.”

Others, however, offered a different interpretation, suggesting that the gesture could simply reflect natural Xhosa affection or the pair’s close friendship.

Fans play detective

The lighthearted speculation has seen fans playfully analyse the interaction, with some convinced the body language hinted at a possible romance.

However, neither Zolisa nor the woman has confirmed that they are romantically involved.

As a result, the dating rumours remain exactly that — speculation based on a brief moment captured at the Netflix celebration.

Netflix celebrates 10 years in South Africa

The romance buzz came as Netflix marked an important milestone in its South African journey.

The streaming giant’s 10th anniversary celebration brought together actors, filmmakers and other industry figures while highlighting the growth of locally produced content on the platform.

Netflix has continued expanding its South African offering, with several new and returning series and films announced as part of its local slate.

For Zolisa, who has built a reputation through major television and film roles, the event was another opportunity to celebrate the country’s thriving entertainment industry.

No confirmation from the pair

For now, fans will have to resist drawing conclusions from one affectionate-looking gesture.

Whether Zolisa and the woman are simply close friends or there is something more between them remains unclear. Until either party addresses the speculation, the “hand placement” will remain a fun talking point rather than confirmation of a relationship.
