Orlando Pirates have continued their squad revamp and parted ways with Wayde Jooste, iDiski Times has learnt.

The 30-year-old right-back becomes the latest defender to leave the Buccaneers this window, following the likes of Thulani Hlatshwayo and Happy Jele.

As previously reported by iDiski Times, Jooste was on the exit list of the club but – unlike others – his departure had not been officially announced.

This publication has now learnt the two parties have officially reached an agreement to terminate his contract, which was still running for another season.

Jooste made 39 appearances for the club after joining in 2020 from Highlands Park. He was part of the squad that won the MTN8 trophy in 2020, ending the club’s trophy draught.

Pirates already signed Nkosinathi Sibisi and Tapelo Xoki as new defenders, while Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Justive Chabalala, Kwanda Mngonyama, Hlatshwayo and Jele were all released.

The Buccaneers are continuing to shape their squad under new coach Jose Riveiro, who is understood to be keen on bringing in another defender.

However, they missed out on latest centre-back target, Mustafa Nadhim, who joined Al Faisaly in the Jordanian Pro League.
