Former Steenberg United goalkeeper Buhle Thompson is edging closer to getting a chance to play in the DStv Premiership after Swallows reportedly showed interest.

Thompson was with Steenberg United in the 2020/21 season when they got relegated from the second tier of South African football to the third division. The former Zizwe United goalkeeper tried to revive his career when he joined Grassy Park in the ABC Motsepe League.

iDiski Times has learned that the Cape Town-born shot-stopper is edging closer to joining Soweto giants Swallows on a two-year deal with one year option to extend. Amaswaiswai recently lost Jody February, who returned to his mother club Mamelodi Sundowns.

After surviving relegation on the last day of the playoffs last season ‘The Dube Birds’ will be looking to do better this season as they’ve already completed the signing of Thato Makua, Thakasani Mbanjwa, Lindokuhle Mtshali, Keegan Allen, and Waseem Isaacs.

They will start their 2022/23 campaign against their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates on Saturday 6 August.
