Downs 6th In CAF Club Ranking, Pirates 13th

Mamelodi Sundowns are currently the only South African to be ranked among the top 10 sides in Africa, according to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics.



Masandawana sit in sixth spot in the African ranking, which takes into consideration results between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2022, while their worldwide position is 115.

Pitso Mosimane’s former side Al Ahly sit at the top of the ranking and 21st position worldwide, despite losing the 2021/22 CAF Champions League final.

Meanwhile, CAFCL winners Wydad Athletic Club follow in second spot, but only appear in 63rd position worldwide.

The CAF podium is completed by Angolan side Atletico Petro de Luanda, who appear in 73rd spot worldwide.

The only South African team among the top 20 CAF nations are Orlando Pirates, who sit in 13th spot and in 153rd overall following their run to the CAF Confederations Cup final.
