Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Ribeiro, Pitso, Sirino, Lilepo

Kaizer Chiefs have yet to announce any major signings or departures, despite the 2025/26 season having ended three weeks ago.

The only confirmed changes at Naturena so far have been the departures of co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze.

Amakhosi are also yet to appoint a new head coach, although reports suggest that Fernando Da Cruz remains the leading candidate for the position.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has also been linked with the vacancy.

Earlier this week, “Jingles” teased a major announcement on social media, sparking speculation among some supporters that he could be heading to Naturena.

On the player front, Kaizer Chiefs could find themselves in the race to sign Brazilian forward Lucas Ribeiro, who recently became a free agent.

Ribeiro was released by Spanish second-tier side Cultural Deportiva Leonesa following the club’s relegation.

The 27-year-old struggled to reproduce the form that saw him crowned PSL Player of the Year in the 2024/25 season.

He managed just six goals and two assists in Spain and may now be considering a return to South African football.

Amakhosi though, could face competition for his signature. Reports last week suggested that Rulani Mokwena’s Libyan club Al-Ittihad are currently leading the race to secure his services.

Kaizer Chiefs to release several players

Meanwhile, several current Amakhosi players could be heading for the exit door.

George Matlou, Gaston Sirino, Pule Mmodi and Glody Makabi are among those reportedly facing uncertain futures at the club.

Sirino, now 35, played a limited role during the past campaign, while Mmodi’s future has also come into question despite a respectable season.

With Kaizer Chiefs having already strengthened in wide areas through the signing of Asanele Velebayi, the experienced winger could struggle to retain his place in the squad heading into next season.

Should Amakhosi sign Ribeiro?
