Pirates target CAF glory and R150 million jackpot after historic treble

Orlando Pirates will have another opportunity to challenge for CAF Champions League glory next season after securing their place in the competition.

Having exited the tournament in the preliminary stages this past campaign, the Buccaneers shifted their focus to domestic football and were richly rewarded.

Pirates ended a 14-year wait for the Betway Premiership title, finally ending Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance of South African football.

The Soweto giants also retained the MTN8 and lifted the Carling Knockout Cup, with coach Abdeslam Ouaddou guiding the club to a historic domestic treble.

Orlando Pirates chasing another treble

With Ouaddou expected to remain at the helm next season, Pirates will be aiming to build on that success and potentially challenge for an even greater haul of trophies.

A successful CAF Champions League and Betway Premiership campaign could reportedly earn the club close to R120 million in prize money.

With the MTN8, Nedbank Cup and Carling Knockout also on offer, the Buccaneers could have their sights set on an unprecedented clean sweep worth more than R150 million.

Their immediate priority will be defending their league crown and MTN8 title while pursuing a second CAF Champions League star, a feat that has eluded the club since their triumph in 1995.

To compete on all fronts, Orlando Pirates are expected to strengthen their squad further.

The club invested heavily ahead of last season, bringing in Oswin Appollis and several other new faces, a strategy that ultimately paid off with three trophies.

Another demanding campaign awaits the Buccaneers, but with smart recruitment and continued consistency, Pirates will believe they have what it takes to retain their domestic dominance and finally add another star to their badge.

Can Pirates deliver second star?
